Description
XAC-A271 is a two-button pendant control handle for cranes, hoists and travelling machinery. It puts the two functions of a single motion — or one function in each direction — at the operator’s thumb in a sealed, double-insulated enclosure rated IP65.
Where the XAC-A271 fits
The two-button layout suits machines with a single powered movement, or a station used as a local jog point on larger equipment. Typical duty is hoist lifting and lowering, hatch and door drives, and travel motions on light cranes where the operator walks with the load.
The handle is supplied with a moulded cable boot at the head of the enclosure, which relieves strain on the terminations and shields the cable entry from running water and dust.
Enclosure and ingress protection
The enclosure is moulded in double-insulated polypropylene and coloured yellow throughout, so the station stays visible against machinery and the plastic is the same colour inside and out — a scuff cannot expose a different coloured substrate.
The assembled station is rated IP65: dust-tight, and protected against water projected from a nozzle in any direction. That covers outdoor and dusty indoor service positions; it does not cover immersion.
Electrical shock protection is Class II to IEC 536 and NFC 20-030, so the station relies on double insulation rather than on a protective earth connection.
Contacts and durability
The station uses N/C or N/O slow-break contacts and is rated for a thermal current (Ith) of 10 A, with a rated insulation voltage (Ui) of 600 V at pollution degree 3 and a rated impulse withstand voltage (Uimp) of 6 kV to IEC 947-1.
Mechanical durability is rated at 1,000,000 operating cycles, and the station withstands 100 g shock conforming to IEC 68-2-27 — relevant on crane and hoist duty where the pendant swings and can strike the structure.
Short-circuit protection is by 10 A cartridge fuse, type gG (gL). Provide that protection in the supply to the control circuit.
Wiring and termination
Terminations are screw and captive cable clamp terminals. Acceptable conductor sizes run from a minimum of 1 x 0.5 mm² up to a maximum, with or without a cable end, of 2 x 1.5 mm² or 1 x 2.5 mm².
Terminal referencing follows CENELEC EN 50013, and the station is built to IEC 947-5-1, EN 60947-5-1, IEC 337-1, NFC 63-146 and VDE 0660-200. NEMKO approval applies to the standard station; a special version is available with UL Listed A600-Q600 and CSA A600-Q600 ratings for North American projects.
